This Neumann KMR 81 i is a high-quality shotgun microphone. In many other shotgun microphones, the interference tube not only makes the microphone more focused, it also adds coloration to the sound. In particular, sounds from the side often sound unnatural. This is not the case with KMR 81 i. This directional microphone lets you record a clear and natural voice from several meters away. Background noise is largely reduced and what you still hear sounds natural and undistorted. For outdoor shooting, it is recommended to use the included windshield.
