A new format for Studio Alphen

Can you tell us a little bit more about Studio Alphen?

Studio Alphen is the local public broadcaster of the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn. Through our channels on television, radio and the Internet, we keep residents of the municipality informed of the latest news and cover topics such as local politics, sports and events.

What are the highlights of Studio Alphen for you?

In addition to publishing daily news articles and reports, Studio Alphen airs a number of live broadcasts each year. The carnival in Boskoop, the Trekkertrek Family Day in Koudekerk aan den Rijn and the annual Remembrance Day in Alphen aan den Rijn. These are projects carried by many hands and where the entire team is committed to making the most of our capabilities.

What are your plans (if any) in the future?

We recently moved into our new home at Theater Castellum. That space suits the professional set-up of the broadcaster. From this new situation, we want to continue to build on the content offer and the role of broadcasting in local society.

How did you end up with Broadcast Partners? And what have you recently updated about your studio?

Leading up to that move, we started looking for a new studio furniture with audio table and microphones. We approached Bart van der Velden, our contact at Broadcast Partners, and together we arrived at the current format. Because of the experience in building (television) studios at my employer, we did the construction and configuration of the studio in-house with a number of people. This will also be useful later on in case of any malfunctions, because we will know what the fuse is.

Why did you choose the Axum digital mixing console?

Thanks in part to the flexibility of the mixer and the extensive options where every knob can be programmed to suit your needs. Thus, there are now two radio studios and a talk booth, built around one D&R Axum mainframe, which allows sources to be used in both studios. Furthermore, the new Axum Dante card ensures that the Axum can also be connected to a Dante network and can bring in many channels from this network, including those of our radio automation. An extremely flexible setup!
