When transmitters are close together or multiple transmitters are used in the same location, new frequencies can be formed, called “intermodulation.” Because these frequencies must be strongly suppressed, a cavity filter must be placed after each output of the transmitter or output stage. A double cavity filter is suitable for a maximum frequency spacing of 2 MHz; otherwise, a triple cavity filter is required.
